How long does the design process take?
All projects vary depending on their size & requirements, and are largely influenced by council consents & build times.
We have worked on projects from start to completion in 4 weeks, and others that span over a year.
As a guideline;
Concept Design — 2 - 3 Weeks
Building Consent — 4 - 6 Weeks
Pricing Issue — 2 - 4 Weeks
Construction Issue — 1 - 2 Weeks
Fit-Out — 2 - 8 Weeks
The best way to get an outline of timing is to talk to us - book a callback & we’ll start from there. -
What are your fees?
Fees are largely dependent on project scale, and defined by the time our studio will spend on the project.
These can range between roughly 8-25% of the project budget, dependent on how much Wonder time you need.
We offer fee proposals free of charge, book a callback & we’ll look into it for you. -
What parts of the project don’t you do?
— Liquor licensing, food hygiene licenses & other operational permits.
— The physical fit-out & build - we engage external contractors on all projects. -
Do you project manage fit-outs?
For projects less than 100k we can offer our services for project managent, case-by-case.
For larger jobs, we outsource the project management but stay very close to the build, visiting most jobs on a weekly basis through fit-out to ensure quality of the built work. -
We’re interested in sustainability. Is this something you have expertise in?
Utilising sustainable materials, processes & environmental design is rigorously persued within every project.
We work closely with our suppliers to find competitive options that have clear tracability.
If this is of special importance to you, we form a clear set of expectations at the project briefing to carry through. -
Do you have any references or testimonials?
I’ve collaborated with Buster on five projects including 3 Burger Burgers. I love the culture he champions, doing away with formal and institutionalised client/designer relationships. With all his clients, relationships are more like friendship-based partnerships. This is very unique. We’re casual - we text, we send each other inspirations on Instagram, we don’t keep minutes or hide behind professionalism. Our relationship feels much more genuine and therefore as a designer, he’s even more accountable. I also like how fluid he is, and his willingness to constantly evolve. As a designer, he truly considers form and function; he is immensely creative, talented, and wonderful to work with.
— Mimi Gilmour of Burger Burger
Wonder were wonderful to work with, the whole way through. They delivered a beautiful response to a challenging brief, timeline and budget. The were magic on design, communication and getting the right people to create the work - the whole package. We're delighted with the result.
— Simon Pound of Ingrid Starnes
Wonder is EPIC - I can only rave. I had the best time working with Buster & Katrina. They got me straight away and totally nailed it. Bring on the next project.
— Kelly Karam of Blush Florists
It's like they are one of the team! It's not often brief's are smashed on the first presentation. They know what they are doing & had our total trust.
— Sam Hickey of Asuwere
Buster is a weapon in design and taking an idea, conceptualising it and expressing it thoughtfully in an interior. Really cool working to work with, we are stoked to see the barrier manifest itself in our store. It helps us communicate the Aotea narrative by having little pieces of the island in our store.
— Tama Toki of Aotea
The project has been seamless start to finish. I absolutely LOVE working with Buster.. he just get's it and not one thing has gone wrong. I'm so in love with what Wonder have created, we were so lucky to find them. They have taken every bit of stress away from the project and produced the most beautiful space.
— Nicole Kelly of Papinelle
