Alex Wang HQ —

Workspace Environment

Alex Wang runs a boutique financial advisory practice where relationships & hospitality are at the forefront of the brand ethos.

Wonder was approached to design & fit out their private workspace in Freemans Bay, Auckland.

The space has been designed to embody Wang's character; thoughtful & intelligent but also casual & welcoming - with a strong dose of quirk.

This home for both clients & staff carefully balances residential cues with workspace practicalities, leaning in to the character of the building wherever possible.

"Award-winning financial advisor and broker Alex Wang has opened a unique, sumptuous new office space in Victoria Park, doubling down on the benefits to be derived from working inside such an environment.

Far from your typical office, the newly renovated building has undergone a major refit to create an elegant and peaceful workspace for clients to enjoy."

Words by Architecture Now.

Door handles are the very first handshake at arrival.

Below, the Alex Wang logo is cut from mild steel and installed as a double-pull set.
A confident greeting on entry.

Thick plaster textures the walls & ceiling, enshrouding the workspace with soft calm comfort.

Wabi-sabi timber cabinetry is custom for site, offering many spaces for Alex Wang to display his personal collection of art & sculpture.

Effort has been made to retain the buildings original character, wherever possible.

Kitchen cabinetry has been delicately installed to reveal the original timber lintel, and exposed brick has been bagged with thickened plaster to ensure longevity.

As you walk up the spiral staircase & into the mezzanine meeting lounge, the mood develops.

Carmine Red wraps the walls, eliciting a serious but informal gesture to the space where serious discussions are had.
